Rabies Program

Rabies Surveillance

The state of Ohio is conducting a rabies surveillance program in our county. If you come across a sickly or recently dead raccoon, call the Health Department at 330-627-8022 or 330-627-4866. In most circumstances, we will be able to send the raccoon on to the State for testing.

Rabies Prevention

The Carroll County Humane Society in conjunction with the Health Department offers rabies vaccination clinics for cats and dogs. For more information or to report animal cruelty, call the Humane Society at 330-627-3044.

If you are bitten or exposed to a possibly rabid animal, wash the wound thoroughly, contact the Health Department, contact your doctor and have an adult confine the animal if possible.
